Well, boat week never really got much further than day 4 did it? The floods proved to be a right pain in the arse. The last entry on here was the 29th November, far too long ago. That’s not to say nothing has been going on, in fact far too much has gone on. I’ve finally managed to get a bit of spare time to write again.
So… winter, what a massive cunt, always dark, always wet, and always unavailable for a bit of fun. A bit like your mum really. I managed to get to the boat 3 or 4 times over Nov/Dec/January. Most of the time was spent securing mooring lines and the like. I think I may have even washed the boat once or twice. Too long ago, I can’t remember. I’ve managed to fit two trips abroad, one to Tunisia which was very eventful and the other to Mallorca, which also had a few highlights. I may write about the Tunisia trip at some point. We’ll see.
There were two further victims of the flooding over the winter apart from my neighbours. Two boats on the main river section capsized. Poor bastards. I’m so glad I was ultra-paranoid about checking on my boat over winter.
Some new additions to the site include two new counters; one is a trip counter and the other a mileage counter. As it stands at the time of writing I’ve made 82 trips to the boat in total. I wasn’t really counting to be honest, but I always take a photo or two when I am down there and have managed to work out how many times from the dates on the photos. Every round trip is 90 miles, over 7000 of those fuckers already.
I’ve added a few more members to the Beasty crew, which actually is just a list of people that have helped me in some way or another over the last 11 months. Next month I will have been the owner of the boat for over a year. That’s gone fucking quickly. I’m hoping to write a lot more regularly than I have been now that summer is here.
Stay tuned!
