Everyone loves a dirty little bitch, don’t they? Well this is the exception to the rule. We were at the boat this weekend and it turned out to be more of a “let’s give the boat a scrub” than anything else. If you recall, the last time I was up there I managed to get most of the hull cleaned apart from a last little bit on the starboard side. After giving Booger a quick briefing on what to do if I fell into the river, which didn’t include laughing, I set about trying to get the last bit of the hull done. Thanks to some precarious balancing, and extending my body further than it has been in years I managed to get it done. Turns out being 50 isn’t as easy as they said it’d be.
Next up was the cockpit canopy, which turned out better than I was epxecting.
We then started on the cabin roof and this involved more than just elbow grease. One of the previous owners seems to have taken off a piece of metal work, filled the screw/bolt holes with some sort of rubber sealant and then poured resin over the holes. I had to deal with that first. Whilst doing this, I realised I’d probably found a third source of water leakage into the cabin.
Port side cabin walk-way needed a bit of TLC too. These are the two known sources of water leakage into the cabin. Previous owner has done the same thing here, removed something and filled the screw/bolt holes with rubber and then poured resin over the area.
Oh, the one thing I didn’t think that would ever happen happened this weekend. Yup, that’s right, I dropped my phone into the river while taking pictures. Cue having to fish the little bastard out. Not a pleasant experience. The only bit of the boat left to clean is the cockpit. There’s no point doing that just yet as it’s where I seem to spend most of my time anyway. Next week I am hoping to fill all the screw and bolt holes. Anything other than having to actually fix the gaping holes in the cockpit for now. I’ll get to them at some point.
