Recycle, recycle, recyle! Something I never do, and something I care even less about. But that’s a rant for elsewhere. That said, I still have all the gear from when I had the last boat and decided that I’d give actual fibreglassing a try with the view of creating some back plates for the holes in the cockpit.

After turning the garage into a meth lab I set about my business. My first attempt was a failure, I put it down to the resin and hardner being 7 years old and the fibreglass cloth being damp from being stored on the boat. Or possibly, and not likely, that I fucked up the hardner to resin ratio. Who am I kidding? It was probably that.

Instead of leaving it there I went down to Halfords to spend a bit of hard-earned on a small fibreglass kit to see if a second attempt would be successful. It was! The results of both attempts are below.
