I keep hearing about how having a boat is akin to standing in a shower with a wad of £20 notes. So far all it’s taken is a bit of elbow-grease and a visit to the pub.
Well that’s changed a bit. Way back when, when I made this statement little did I know how I’d come to regret making said statement. You may have noticed when I’ve mentioned tools in my posts I’ve said xxx cost £20 from B&Q. I was alluding to the statement above.
As well as kicking Karate Kid’s arse, being a master fibreglasser and an all round nautical god I am also the designated Chief Petty (Cash) Officer for this fine vessel. As such I have tried my best to keep all receipts when I have bought tools and materials for the boat. I’ve actually not done too badly to be fair.
The only receipts I haven’t been keeping are petrol and food and beer costs. Bearing in mind it’s at least £15 to Southend and back it actually adds up to quite a bit considering how many times I’ve been down to her in Southend. Then there’s the 3 or 4 trips I made to Southampton which is significantly more obviously. Food and beer probably the same amount again each time. I’m too scared to work out those costs, but am actually quite interested in the materials and tools costs.
So This blog post will be updated regularly with an itemised list, and the costs with a running total. I’ve added a link in the top right corner of the site that you can visit any time you’re vaguely interested. It’s more for my benefit than anything else but feel free to split your sphincter laughing at the cost of my stupidity.
