The itch was too much to bear. Not having finished sanding the patches at the weekend, I decided to go down to the boat after work. There was no fucking around. I jumped on the boat, grabbed a bit of sandpaper and set to it. I gave myself 2 hours to get the remaining patches sanded, and I pretty much managed it.
It’s looking good I reckon:
If I thought I could get away with it, I’d be bagging up the powder generated from the sanding and try and sell it to Papa Smurf, or better yet, Smurfette. Who knows what she’d be able to offer if she was dosed up with some Columbian Marching Powder? Again, I wouldn’t Google “Sexy Smurfette”. Trust me, Peyo, their creator would be spining at light speed in his grave if he’d seen what people have done to poor old Smurfette. I’m conscious I keep telling you not to Google things. It’s a service I provide free of charge. I go where you wish you could but don’t. Enough about that.
I had an iquisitive little visitor today. A little lone wolf, only it’s a swan. I’m a little concerned about where the rest of his family is. I hope they’re ok.
Some other news. I found three more sources of water leakage into the cabin. I actually found one of them the other day and forgot to mention it. As frustrating as it is, I am glad I am finding them now. Saves any nasty surprises later on down the line. I’m sure there’ll be more, but I am actively looking as I work on the boat.
- One of the front cabin windows is leaking. This is a right pain in the arse, because I was hoping those were water tight. Boat windows are notoriously difficult to replace and/or fix.
- There’s a little ventilation thing on the cabin roof. It looks like a UFO, I had covered it over, but it seems to be leaking. I’ll need to get some tarpaulin over it.
- There are 3 holes that have been drilled just underneath the windows of the cockpit canopy, those holes lead directly into the cabin. I’ll get those fixed this weekend.
Some housekeeping and other non-essential shit:
- I’ve upped the number of posts displayed on the front page to 4. This is because I added the “Is My Deck Still Hard” block. To keep track of my little decking experiment.
- Did you know I’ve been to the boat 32 times since I bought it in July? It may be a few more times than that. Every time I g down I try to take at least a couple of pictures. I’ve been filing those into folders arranged by date. I know there’s been a couple of times (in the beginning) where I didn’t take pictures. That’s in 4 months. If I got down to the other boat 20 times in 4 years it’d be a lot.
- I may have sourced a cover for the boat and it’ll be a fraction of the cost. I’ll get to that soon.
That’s it. I’m going to try get down there today.
