Today did not go as well as I was hoping it would. The aim for the day was to remove the old threshold I built earlier in the year and then to start building the frame for the hinged door. Before I even got that far, upon my arrival I climbed on to the boat and realised that there was a fair amount of water sloshing around in the cockpit. Bad. What has happened is, is that the rim of the drain I installed yesterday is a little too high and as a result water was collecting in the cockpit. Fuck!

A consequence of this, is that when I stood on port side of the boat, the water naturally ran down towards that side, and then started leaking through the old threshold. The old threshold hadn’t been tested this way previously because the drain was flush with the cockpit floor and no water ever managed to hit the threshold. Not a complete disaster as I was going to remove the old threshold anyway. The water leaking under the threshold was acting, quite coincidentally as a flusher for the piss bucket.

I managed to get the new threshold installed by bonding it with fibreglass filler and then giving it a layer of actual fibreglass. Not many pictures of it at all. But here’s a video of the flusher.
