I know it looks like I have a right bee in my bonnet about this one, not so much, I just don’t understand the logic of this company in particular. And no, there’s nothing personal going on. I’m just an annoying little fuck and a Virgo. (Apparently that has something to do with it). If you’re new here, let me briefly explain.
A while back I approached a company who made outdoor composite decking. I thought decking in boats would be a good application for their products. I reached out to them suggesting as much. I had a reply back. I’m paraphrasing here but essentially they said that “their product was not suitable for prolonged exposure to water/moisture“.
This is a company who manufactures outdoor decking. In England. Where it rains pretty much constantly. Go figure. Anyway I set out to prove them wrong and after a bit of research I mixed up a saline solution similar to the content of sea water. I took a sample of their product and submerged it in said saline solution. The aim was to show there would not be many, if any detrimental issues with their product. This was an extreme test. No boat and/or decking would be completely submerged in sea water unless it had major issues. Like sitting on the sea bed instead of floating on water.
I reached out to Dino Decking a year after I did the experiment to let them know that they may be able to market their product to boat owners. There’s been nothing but tumbleweed back in response. So fuck ’em.
Fast forward 500 days, and here we are…
The only issue I can see is that the colour from the composite has leached a smidge, but I’m guessing that’s because it’s been completely submerged for almost a year and a half. Needless to say I won’t be using Dino Decking. Simply because I am right and they are wrong. Or something.
