The dream was to have a sliding door, because it just looked cool, and saved a metric fuck-ton of space in the cockpit when it opened. Alas, not all dreams come true, the sliding door option is just not practical. So, I have decided to go with the more traditional hinged door.

Today was visit 103 and the main aim of the day was to do some preparation work before building the door. If you remember way back when I first decided to do the sliding door, I built a housing into which the door could slide. Through trial and error that just didn’t work and it also covered over the only drainage hole in the cockpit. I am still going to rebuild the wall that the sliders are currently on, that’ll involve fixing some ply board to the wall. This will potentially have covered the drainage hole again.

The goal today was to move that drainage hole by drilling a new hole in the floor and then attaching waste pies to the new hole and then filling in the old hole. The new hole is temporary only.  This was my progress through the day:
